It's such a shame that all those were scrapped -they were sitting for a while - available. As arguably, some of the first southern streamliners, they were historic.

The caption-writer took some license. The train didn't actually pass through Columbia, Miss. It stayed on the opposite side of the river in what's called West Columbia or Foxworth.

When I took a train from Cairo, Egypt south in 2011 along the Nile River to Luxor, Egypt, this scene was repeated countless times. Oxcarts, camels, etc. were waiting at the crossings.

This makes me wonder if anyone ever took a picture of a feral U.S. Army camel next to a train anywhere in the Southwest.
