Nostalgia & History > Thurs Lost Junk: a mess o’ 7s in '77!Date: 10/30/14 17:41 Thurs Lost Junk: a mess o’ 7s in '77! Author: santafe199 There seems to be some unwritten railfan rule that oddball, consecutive or sequentially-identical numbers need to be photographed, no matter what weather or lighting conditions exist. I fall squarely into that railfan description. Here’s an image for all you number hounds! Not a bad poker hand, either as long as you’re playing with at least 1 joker. Five Santa Fe-style Roman numeral 7s in a row. Neat, taken in ‘77. It would be cool to say I took the shot on July 7 (7-7), bit I would be fibbing. This is yet another slide from my infamous 1982 purge. I took the slide, then 5 years later decided it was too dark to keep. 32 years after that: Photoshop comes to the rescue…
1. AT&SF ‘Ga83’ hopper #77777 sits in Strong City, KS on June 12, 1977. Thanks for playing a hand! (Sorry about topping that full-house… ;^) Lance Garrels santafe199 Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 07/24/22 22:19 by santafe199. Date: 10/30/14 19:32 Author: Ritzville I like that number!

We definitely like ones with numbers that are the same backwards and forward. We show them at our meetings with other RR stuff. An example would be 88588. One like 8888 is great because it can also go upside down. This adds interest to looking for trains to photograph.
