Nostalgia & History > NKP 765 on C&NW Fan Trip 9/15/84

Anybody remember this fan trip? September 15, 1984 with NKP 765 and 2 C&NW F-units and a good size train heading west on the C&NW at Wheaton, IL. Coming and going shots. I barely remember taking these pictures, and that's it.

My younger son, Karl, and I rode that one to Janesville. WI. Gerry

Edit: I photographed the excursion on 9/15/84 which went west. We rode the excursion on 9/16/84 that went northwest to Janesville.

You had me there for a minute-- these are awesome photos, but #759 stopped running in 1973. What you've got there is sister engine #765.

Not often do you get corrected for a 30-year mistake. I wrote 759 on each slide. And the number plate in my first picture could not be much clearer.

I REMEMBER THIS!!! I was 6 years old back then....My dad made a recording of the whole thing....I remember people staked out on the CA&E bridge. I dunno how they got there as the bridge was inaccessible at the time. I'll dig out the recording in a little bit.

Sorry I'm a month late to this topic (guess I should of looked in the other forums besides steam) but Oh man it's nice to see some awesome pics of this event!! I wasn't born just yet but I grew up in West Chicago which was about 10 mins. Away from Wheaton. Did anyone ever make a video of this trip in 84'? I've always been looking.
