Depot Friday: The Zephyr Starting Gate
Author: PRose

For many years, the Twin Cities Zephyr Fleet of the CB&Q held the world's start to stop speed record of 86.2 mph between East Dubuque, IL
and Prairie du Chien, WI; a distance of 54.6 miles with a running time of 43 minutes.
The weeds and boarded up windows of the East Dubuque depot tell a sad story of the reverse evolution of rail travel in our country.

East Dubuque, IL.
August 4, 1984.

Thanks for looking

Steffee said-- 38 minutes? Limit was supposed
to be 90 mph, so they'd have to cheat.
