Sherman Hill 1956

Those are some great photos, now where did I place the keys for the time machine?

Last days of steam and early diesels I might be in heaven. Although since I'm a
bicentennial nut 1976 might give it a run for the money.

Hello Ed,

Gordon M's UP Steam book says that all of the CSA's were originally converted during 1937-43.

Take care,

Mark

I believe that's a Denver-bound train, on the EB main just west of the former Hermosa Jct. The Denver-Laramie trains often used 5000s at that time and it was common to double-head back from Laramie to Denver because of power imbalances & to get those engines back home.

Take care,

Mark

I like how the Fireman is leaning out the cab window on the curve
checking his side of the Locomotive. Classic Picture!
