Nostalgia & History > The Ambassador on the B&MDate: 11/23/14 13:56 The Ambassador on the B&M Author: MaineLines In the 1960s the Boston and Maine handled the Washington-Montreal Ambassador up the Connecticut River to White River Junction, Vermont where it was handed off to the Central Vermont. It always seemed to have a mixture of equipment from the participating railroads. Here we see it northbound passing the CV yard at Bellows Falls? and then approaching White River Junction.

Thanks for posting , what a great train to model. Date: 11/23/14 18:55 Re: The Ambassador on the B&M Author: qnyla The blue and white F unit looks very cool in that scheme.

While you can a find several photos of the 1960's Ambassador on-line, I've never been able to find any of it's night-time counterpart, the Montrealer/Washingtonian. I expect that's because it ran mostly in the dark. Amtrak's version ran on a later schedule, especially in the '80s and '90s, so seems to have been much more popular with photographers. If anyone has photos of the NH-B&M-CV-CN Montrealer please share. One other anomaly about the Ambassador's consist - the regularly assigned CN RPO was labeled "United States Mail"...did other CN subsidiary routes have similar cars?
