One gets the impression that Otto Perry didn't have much time for diesels, and especially not for hood units. A keyword search for "Perry Santa Fe diesel" turns up 131 images, mostly of F-units and other full-width carbody types. Just 6 show switchers and roadswitchers. January 1950 is mighty early for the full zebra scheme (the painting diagram for this class is dated July 1950), so I wonder if VO1000 2225 earned its frame of film by being the first example of this scheme Perry had ever seen.

I love the photo of the bored-looking fireman on the Baldwin switcher, but I like this more (with apologies to Otto for cropping his photo.

Thanks, Flynn!

I didn't know Santa Fe also subscribed to "Sport Cab" slanted fronts as well like SP, D&RGW, and others. Just gives the engines a fast look standing still.

Hoghead: Excellent job on the cropping. Man, that 2916 engine just shines in the other shot!
