Interchange at White River Junction
Author: MaineLines

White River Junction, Vermont served as an interchange point for freight between the Canadian Pacific and the Boston and Maine when these photos were taken in the mid 1960s. A southbound CP freight approaches town along the Connecticut River in the first photo then enters the yard in the second. Finally a B&M switcher works the cut of cars at the south end of the yard.

New England Central and the Green Mountain Railroad operate through White River Junction these days. Amtrak's Vermonter stops once in each direction every day.

Just wonderful images; I was first there in '74 shooting black & white.

Wonderful photos. Thanks for posting them.

Would the CP power have been run-through? I thought that B&M owned the line up to Wells River, which is where the property interchange was with CP.
