1. SOU E8A 6907, SCL E7A 550, and SCL E8A 579 posed on April 26, 1971. 2. SOU E8A 6915 was waiting for work to come probably that evening, December 17, 1968. 3. Date: 11/27/14 08:01 Re: SOU, SCL, and C&O E-Units at Ivy City Author: ctillnc 6915, on the point of the Southern Crescent, hit a lumber truck near Atlanta in 1978. It was never repaired and went to EMD as a trade-in. Three more E8's were destroyed or never repaired after the Virginia wreck, also in 1978. Three other E8's had been damaged in a wreck in North Carolina the year before. It was a difficult two years, to say the least. Southern decided to turn over the trains to Amtrak quickly.
