Nostalgia & History > The New BN on the CB&Q's East End, 1970 and 1971

The CB&Q racetrack between Aurora and Chicago was called the East End. After the BN merger CB&Q, GN, and NP power became intermixed and Cascade Green was a novelty, making train photography more interesting on the East End. Here is a small sample.

1. BN 2532 and 2518 on August 29, 1970 passing through Westmont, IL

2. BN 5716, 3038 and some UP power the same day at Westmont

3. BN 5716 leads, Clarendon Hills, IL on April 2, 1971

Greatly enjoying all your postings. Hope you haven't stopped with the historic stations in major cities. Many of your Southern photos are outstanding. And the NS series is full of collectors' items. Thanks, and keep them coming.

Those are really nice! I especially love the Northern Pacific units. I'm not sure why, but I've always favored the NP over the other railroads that made up the merger. Maybe it's the color I don't know. One thing for sure though, I miss them all now and wish they were still around. Great shots!!
