2) GP40-2 7661 with the Westbound Niland Turn including the SW-1500 El Centro switcher, 10/87
3) B39-8E 8002 at Salvia making it's first trip West, 8/87

From the lay of the mountains, I think he is eastbound in the third image.

Hmm, a bunch of us shot the set both directions and 8002 was on the point Westbound and the
trees are on the left which is correct for Westbound. Good question, I'll have to find the
other set and do a comparison. Guess labeling the slides right after you get them back might
be a good idea? Oh well, little late now.

Yes. Looks like an eastbound at West Palm Springs.

Like the Saugus pic. The "SP" on the nose must had just been applied- new for 1972.

Photo 3 is West Palm Springs, not Salvia.
