Interesting photos! In just a few months (June 1930), the entire Daylight consist was repainted in a distinctive battleship grey. Those colors were difficult to keep clean and the scheme only lasted a couple of years. Please post more photos of this era if you have them.

Those are wonderful. BTW, they are of his trip SP west toward San Jose as that was when helpers were added.

The Pacific Coast Ry ng came right in behind where the picture of the station was taken; there might even had been a train there then.

The Daylight was painted Pearl Gray, not Battleship Gray.
