Nostalgia & History > Stand Up For the Red, White and BlueDate: 01/27/15 13:22 Stand Up For the Red, White and Blue Author: RDG630 CR Bicentennial G motor "Old Rivets" #4800 seen at Plymouth Meeting and Harrisburg. Note the GM 1975 experimental electric with 4800 in the last image.

Bob Date: 01/27/15 15:54 Re: Stand Up For the Red, White and Blue Author: RuleG That was probably the gaudiest of the bicentennial schemes.
That said, your images are enjoyable to see. Thanks for posting them. I wonder how they did the "O" though-- I guess they probably painted a "C" and then filled in the gap with a brush. (Most Conrail diesels just got a "CR" early on though.)

Considering a lot of museum collections, I think that except for the open windows and a little rust, she looks pretty darn good. Better than the two steamers behind here that seem to have their lagging and who knows what else removed.

I would imagine the museum won't be doing a lot of restoration to the equipment outside until they get the round house built they are planning. ernie |
