IOWA RR short-lived Alco era!
Author: glord

January of 1983 the IOWA RR leased ex-LN c-420s for a short period. On a typical dark day at Rock Island ILL we catch the eb for Chicago on the main waiting for a crew. To the right is the resident switch engine being tended to. The IAIS will take over later and it to will have it,s Alco era, but that,s another story.

Nice catch! I never did see the IRRC Alcos despite living less than 3 miles from the tracks.

Those Alco's leaked lube oil badly. When they were serviced, it was
"fill up the Lube Oil and of yes, top off the fuel tank!"
The IRRC local office was in the former RI baggage room. (Corner of the bldg. next to eng)
It was called the Rat Room because of all the mice and rats running around.
