The enclosed carbodies, and the porthole windows just make these engines so special. They look imposing, yet graceful. The enclosed interiors makes them a bit of a mystery, but you can still see something inside. And their EMD engines quietly humming, idling away the time prior to departure only added to the mood. Such great design and appeal--yet to be matched by any modern passenger engine.

And kept spotlessly clean by a company that at that
time, cared about what impression they made on the
public.

Would you by any chance have the consist?

Speaking of passenger train consists, lots of folks are now interested in historic and current consists.

Union Pacific kept #954 in service until 1980 for Amtrak protection service, Old Timer's and Family Days specials. Unfortunately it was scrapped after that.
