Nostalgia & History > 47 Years Ago: Crews Got Over the Road . . .Date: 01/29/15 16:17 47 Years Ago: Crews Got Over the Road . . . Author: SCKP187 Seems like railroading has become so much a 12' shift nowadays, and crews not always reaching their terminal because of congestion and what not.
These are from the pages of my Dad's Freight Conductor's Train Book long before the concept of crew change vans or going dead between terminals was acceptable. January 29 1968 Union Pacific Salina KS to Ellis KS KP called for the hot shot KCM--Kansas City Merchandiser with a typical strange UP variety consist of a GP30 and a DD35 for a run from Salina to Ellis with a set-out at Russell KS. 2'20" later they are called for their return Ellis to Salina on an xtra east with station switching and set-outs along the way MP 303-Ellis MP 290-Hays MP 263-Russell MP 246-Dorrance MP 240-Wilson MP 219-Kanopolis MP 187-Salina Thanks for looking Brian Stevens Date: 01/29/15 19:55 Re: 47 Years Ago: Crews Got Over the Road . . . Or walking back through a mile and a half of 4' drifts to replace a brake hose at 2 AM. Date: 01/31/15 05:58 Re: 47 Years Ago: Crews Got Over the Road . . . Author: Englewood lwilton Wrote:

High level management will work out implementation in 70 degree conference rooms at 0900. Any in the meeting who bring up questions like yours will be asked to pursue interests outside the company. |
