Flares on the move...2
Author: biff

More from the VHS-C tapes. Here are some more moving flares, SD45 style. All of these scenes were shot on what was Conrails line between Buffalo and Binghamton NY in the late 80's, early 90's. None of the trains were Conrail but were D&H/NYSW which had trackage rights to Binghamton as a result of the Conrail formation.

Good stuff as usual, biff, thanks for posting.

Was that an ex-Southern engine in the first clip?
What's the story on that?

Based on the Guilford unit leading, I assume this is a D&H train. So this is probably one of the 6 or 7 exSOU SD45's in a block of 15 GTI purchased in the mid 80's from NS. The other 8-9 were of N&W heritage.

In the late 80's it was common for the D&H-Guilford trains to have N&W, Southern or NS power, sometimes pure with no D&H-Guilford units..
