More IC Electric Photos
Author: MartyBernard

1. Cars from the 1920s and the 1970s occupy the Chicago coach yard while "Big Stan" (the Standard Oil Building) looks on on August 20, 1976.

2. Highliners making a 59th Street stop on April 28, 1977.

3. Yes the cars built for the 1926 electrification of the IC suburban lines had big doors for fast loading and unloading at high-level platforms. These old guys are in the Chicago coach yard on August 20, 1976.

Enjoy these EMU train photos,

Really appreciate these fine IC Electric images, Marty. The shot at 59th St. brings back a lot of memories. Used that platform many times.

The Standard building stood out more when it had the white Carrera marble on it.

True but that marble could not stand up to Chicago weather.

That marble came from the same area that some of Michaelangelo's sculptures came from. Some of it ended up as landfill on Amoco (now BP) property. It can still be seen along Calumet Avenue.
