An Interesting Time on the BAR
Author: MaineLines

1980 was an interesting time on the Bangor and Aroostook with a few F3s and BL2s still running (a few still in the solid blue of the 1960s) and BL2 557 repainted in its as delivered light gray.

If there were a prize for the "Best Lashup of the Day", I'd certainly give it to these images. While I was only there for about three days in 1967, I saw several interesting lashups but never one as good as this "Gem".

I agree. What other railroad in 1980 could run a consist with an F unit and 2 BL2s?

Thanks for posting. One of my regrets of railfanning is not seeing in person the BAR during that era and a few years earlier.

Holy Batman! Look at the building (or shell of a building) in the background of the last photo!
