Bad paint?
Author: tomstp

This poor looking MP NW-2 #1219 could certainly use a trip to the paint shop. It may look very bad but, it was earning its keep as part of a two engine hump unit at Ft Worth's Centennial Yard in the mid 1970's. The paint is so bad the engine is beginning to reveal its original owner, Texas & Pacific.

As bought it came in a black paint scheme with silver striping on the front. Shortly afterward it was taken into the paint shop and given the famous swamp holly orange paint scheme retaining its original number of 1019. Then came the MOP and it was dipped in a blue paint bucket without removing the old paint.

Many times when reviewing pictures I thought about throwing away this shot due to the lousy condition of the paint. Somehow I'm glad I didn't.

Sure glad you have kept it. Perfect railroad photo from the 70s and a good model switcher from a generation we won't have again.
