Topside View of an SP Torpedo Boat
Author: drumwrencher

An unidentified SP 3000 class Torpedo Boat in charge of Commute 149, rolling westbound (to SF) under Taylor St overpass near College Park. Interesting view of the "torpedoes".  JR Benedict photos. Used with permission.

Enjoy.

Are there any locomotive engineers on this site who ran these? If so, where were the spitter valves located on these reservoirs? Or, was there another means of draining the condensation such as angle cocks? Thanks........

The stars indicate that the tanks have been "drilled" which eliminated the hammer and hydro annual test/

The spitter valves are mounted on the forward end of each of the water tanks.  Inside the hood, under each pair of tanks, is a small catch tank to which the spitter valves are attached.

Is that a popoff valve at the far end atop the left tank?

No, it is just a pipe plug.  There is a 15 pound cooling system vent valve at the far end of the hood, to the right of the red light.

Hopefully, some of the detail photos on the SP5623 web site might be of help to you too.
