More E's in my life
Author: Bob3985

In my time on the UP I would occasionally capture a photo or two of the E's.
The first photo is of the westbound City of Portland departing North Platte, NE. I took this photo in route to college back in the 1960's.
The second photo was after I hired out in Cheyenne in 1976. It is a westbound passenger special spotted at the fuel rack just west of the depot.
The third photo is taken of a westbound passenger special approaching the road crossing at Tower A (West Cheyenne), MP 512. UP 960 leads the charge up Sherman Hill.
I have always found a fascination with the E's and soon may see them on the rails again.

Here is UP 949 in the rebuild bay at VMV in Paducah, KY when we had the units rebuilt with normally aspriated Roots blown 645 EMD engines.
Second we see the E's in the Feather River on an excursion we did for the American Cancer Society.

Awesome pics! I took some shots of the trio on the day they arrived back to Cheyenne after being rebuilt.  I was by the depot near P1 and a mixed freight arrived. Behind two SD's and a Dash 8, I noticed the pristine ABA set. I rushed to Tower A to watch them do a reverse move with the trio back to the shop. They sure looked great. (nose door and all)

That 1st image is a classic! What American kid growing up in a small-medium 1960s RR town could look down the street once in a while and not see a train rolling by? Nice stuff.

Thanks Lance,
I grew up with F's in Lockport, Illinois. With the F3's on the GM&O and the F7/9'son the ATSF. The GM&O did have some E's and caught them after college in Joliet on the passenger trains.
