The location is certainly not a mystery, but the 'when' and the photographer are unknown ... and what train was it?

The lighting looks to be maybe 9 a.m. in the summer.  The Geep working passenger trains puts us no earlier than the 60s.

The Geep may be one of the Coach Yard engines that moved equipment between LaSalle St. Station
and the Root St. Coach Yard.

Didn't NYC use GP7's in pairs on many of it's passenger trains in the 1950's?

I think they did.
The Geep in the picture is solo, short end in the lead and the equipment it is handling
has no head end or baggage cars.  Also it is on track 3 which means it has either shoved that equipment
down or is making a switching movement in the depot.
