If so, that would put the year at 1980 or later. Thanks for posting the shots; always enjoy the uncommon views. Mark Date: 07/05/15 20:46 Re: Gibbon NE 1979 Author: KD7ZST brc600 Wrote:

Another great batch of photos, S & B. Date: 07/05/15 20:58 Re: Gibbon NE 1979 Author: UP951West FYI, the river you picture crossing prior to Gibbon is the Platte River.
The crossing of the North Platte River is east of North Platte, NE on the double track UP Omaha to Ogden Overland Route. Enjoyed your photos as I lived in Kearney ,NE the year before you took your phots. --Kelly Date: 07/05/15 21:42 Re: Gibbon NE 1979 Author: wpjones Great shots, The first is at Denman,Ne crossing the Platte River as Kelly said. The second shot is crossing the black top to Shelton,Ne and going under I-80 at the same time. I love the third shot at the begining of double track approching Gibbon jct. With the Motorcar setout at the end of a siding or double track as was the norm. Try and find one of these now, even the ones between Julesburg and Sterling have been removed.
Steve Date: 07/05/15 22:12 Re: Gibbon NE 1979 Author: DNRY122 Don't have the photo handy, but Gibbon, Neb. was where my wife and I found some hog drovers loading the real "pig cars" with hogs for the Farmer John packing plant in the Los Angeles area. We had spent the night in Grand Island during our cross-country trip home from New England, and were heading westward on US 30. I stopped to get a photo of a livestock car with the HOGX reporting mark, but we didn't stay there long, because as C. W. McCall said in his 1975 No. 1 hit Convoy, them hogs was gittin' mighty intense.
