Maroon Monday with random Rock Island stuff.
Author: dt8089

Just some random stuff I scanned the other day. First up is this westbound with U28B and ex Rio Grande GP7 at Joliet IL in February of 73.
Second up is another westbound with a U28B in a U25B carbody, U33B, and GP40 combo in October of 76.  looks like someone added static grass to the scene.
The Bankers was a Chicago to Joliet Main Line limited stops express train.  Here is the evening westbound arriving at Joliet on its overnigt storage
track in June of 75.  The signal bridge was called "Ottawa Street" by train crews.  Take care and be safe out there.  Dan

Hello Dan,

Do you happen to have the date for the Feb '73 shot?

Thanks,

Mark

Great scenes! It looks like the 266 has 2 different paint schemes on the nose.

This unit was delivered in the solid maroon with white stripes on the nose.  Later on the Rock painted the ends yellow and after several washes with an acid base wash the paint slowly faded out to reveal the scheme under it.   SP8595 Wrote:
