Ah yes… the good old Rock Island and its infinite variety of misplaced engine hood doors! Here’s a version that may or may not have already been covered here on TO. If it has, what the heck. Here’s a Jim Watson shot with another look back at everybody’s pet favorite railroad (R.I.P.!) and its engine hood antics. Enjoy!

Interesting shot. Near as I can tell those units are parked in the area that the car rebuilder is now located at.

Nope, the tracks are still there. The buildings are gone. The tracks are stub-ended. This is looking north toward the Alter scrapper/Griffith Pipe complex.
