CRI&P E8A 648 just departed La Salle Street Station with the Quad City Rocket on March 30, 1971 with dome/lounge/observation Big Ben on the rear.

Nice photo Marty. I used to catch occasional brakeman positions on that run of #5&6 o.ff the extra board. It made a nice train with the DePorter/Butterworth's Big Ben dome on the rear end. In the foreground was th old freight house tracks where the 12th street yard would make up the piggy back outbound trains. In the background appears to e the remenants of the old NYC freight house facility.

That is beautiful!  It doesn't get much better than that.  I love the Rock Island, I love E units, and I love that red and yellow paint!  Did I mention I love that shot?  Great job!!
