Is that still in existence? I think it came down around the time the shop buildings were razed.

IIRC the power is sitting on the lead to the balloon track and shops area. The Auburn Branch to Owego and beyond was the left most track in the overgrown yard track center-right - see this photo taken by Jim Gerofsky in 1975 a year before the borg took over: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=45637&nseq=45 The Railpictures site has many good pictures of LV Sayre yards and locomotive servicing area. BTW, LV's Auburn Branch at one time did reach North Fair Haven, NY on Lake Ontario, only 14 miles from Oswego, where there was a pier for loading coal on ships. Abandonments to N Fair Haven and Fair Haven apparently occurred in 1937 and 1953, respectively. |
