Adventures in a cigar box...
Author: BillMarvel

...which is where I keep most of my color slides. One by one, my son, Geoff, is resurrecting and correcting them. I'll post them from time t time.

Bearing an unmistakable profile, CB&Q 9915-B leads Alliance-Casper train #31 through Scottsbluff, Nebraska, early on October 30, 1964. Clad in gleaming stainless steel and once named Silver Clipper (the nameplate has been removed), the unit is one of 11 distinctive E5As built for Zephyr service in the months before World War II and is now running out its last miles before going in on trade to GE. A sister engine, the 9911-A, survives in the Illinois Railroad Museum.

Stainless steel and a little Brasso should do the trick.

Nice shot, thanks for posting.

Acutally, the name plate wasn't removed.  You can see it in the photo.  When the Q decided
to discontinue the names, they just unscrewed the plate and turned it over!  IRM discovered
this when they went to restore their E5.  Minor technical point.
