Nostalgia & History > Seven SD9s, Anyone?Date: 07/31/15 19:22 Seven SD9s, Anyone? Author: loleta Here's one from the early 1980s. I recall my parents were taking some out-of-town guests to Napa Valley for some wine tasting. "Just drop me off at Napa Junction and pick me up on your way back home," I said. I believe this photo is from that day: seven SD9s hauling tonnage off the NWP into Jameson Canyon, for the trip over the hill to Suisun.

Car is labeled in French on one side and in English on the other. Canada has two official languages. Date: 07/31/15 21:43 Re: Seven SD9s, Anyone? Author: jcaestecker Much of what was shipped in those boxcars into the US was newsprint to publishing companies. Thanks to the internet, precious little is shipped that way now.

From what I'm reading, they are getting grain now btw. But it's going to take a good deal more to begin to make a dent in the drought. Plus, they've pumped the aquifers down an awful lot - I have no idea if those are even going to stand a ghost of a chance to get recharged. I had no know idea they ran so many units in the their MU sets.
What a great shot! Date: 08/02/15 07:11 Re: Seven SD9s, Anyone? Author: Lark No more newsprint... Concrete ties for "SMART"; Grain, and empty cars for case goods -- wine...
