Along the B&OCT Part 17 - GP15's
Author: Englewood

April, 15, 1988.
No location on the slide but I would guess Perry Ave. at the east end of Barr Yard.
Looking at the cars I assume it is one of the New Rock trains.
CSXT called the old Rock Island they operated west of Joliet the New Rock Sub.

Open to correction, but it seems to me the GP15's were  originally
purchased for operation on the New Rock.  All of the sand cars
would also indicate an Ottawa Train.zr190

Very true - the GP-15Ts all together like that could only mean one thing - New Rock Sub in the '80s!  It was not uncommon to see 7-8 of them pulling at that time, and mostly at night.  I last saw 1502 at Ottawa in 2012 when I was in the area, but when I checked out the yard last Tuesday, I only saw some old GE products and not one GP-15T anywhere,  Are they still on the New Rock if even on the CSX roster these days?

Yes they are still on the roster. As heavy as it has been lately, they're using big power now.

I think the location is Perry Ave. The train would be on Main Track #1 and the track to the left is the North Open. There was a Forest Preserve (in the background) before they built the blue steel mill....

Agreed looks to be the east end of Barr Yard
