The attached photo was taken Aug 06 1980 of the UP passenger Depot in SLC when I was in town on a business trip. This building is a very impressive structure. At that time, Amtrak trains stopped here.

In August of  1967 I spent the whole day in SLC.

I got off the Butte Special in the morning and had ALL DAY until the City of Los Angeles pulled in around 7.

That was a long hot day as I can remember it. Took a Gray Line ( BUS ) Excursion of SLC also.

I had my engineer training classes there in October of 1998. While there, the UP officially turned over the depot to the City of salt Lake. All of us in the class watched the ceremonies from the second flood balcony. Beautiful depot, I only wish I had taken some picture of it.

Great photo of a beautiful station! Note the F40PH at far left behind the trees. This is the power for the "Pioneer," which would be turned after arrival in the morning, then parked at this spot to be cleaned while plugged-in to ground power. It was great having an office in this impressive building!

Did the same thing in June of that year.  Then went east on #6.
They'd just taken off the "Prospector" so I had to go UP.  Nice
shot of the depot.
