Notice the 4th unit back in the 2nd photo. What was this SP unit doing on the MKT?

Pool power? I saw MKT units on the SP on the Sunset Route in Loma Linda back in the very early 80's.

Used to see odd pool power on the Katy regularly, UP, SP, CNW, MILW generally. Photographed an SP U33C on the point of a SB through Oklahoma one day in the late 70's at a time when MKT had no 6 axle units of their own. Katy loved pool power since it was often the only working unit in the consist. Also saw pooled cabooses, you know those cars that the crew rode in that were once at the end of every freight train.
