It became part of CP (Soo Line):

"According to Articles of Merger filed with and Certificates of Merger issued by the Minnesota
and Iowa Secretaries of State, the Soo Line Railroad Company merged with DRI effective June
29, 1995, with Soo Line the designated surviving entity of the merger. As the non-surviving entity
of the merger, DRI ceased to exist on June 29, 1995. Authority for the Soo Line-DRI merger is
contained in Interstate Commerce Commission Finance Docket No. 32579. Former DRI
employees transferred either to the Burlington Northern Railroad or Soo Line, with the exception
of 6 DRI employees who signed severance agreements."

Regardless of what may have "Officiall' happened, what actually happened was
the Soo Line ended up with the Iowa side and the BN ended up with the Illinois side
and the Cresant Bridge over the Mississippi.

Both of these comments are correct.  Soo and BN struck a deal
to split up the "DRI" line, with the BN getting the Illinois side and
the Soo the Iowa side.  Each got trackage rights on the other, and
the Soo became the "surviving corporation" of the merger.  I don't
know if any money changed hands in this deal, but that's what
happened.
