Just a good old SP scene

That's 'Antelope'. SP Westbound.

Westbound, and technically the West end of Roseville was called Antelope.

YEAH, nice shot of the Flares.  Looks like a crew member in the second unit.  Thanks for sharing some great SP nostalgia.

Great photo, but what the photo doesn't show is that 1982, a recession year, was a really crappy one for SP.   Rail freight traffic was down significantly from levels just 4 years previous.  Lot's of employees, operating and otherwise, were laid off.  SP never recovered...

Before the caboose came off it was common practice for the rear man to ride the second unit if the job had work enroute.
