Nostalgia & History > NYC Steam Passenger QuestionDate: 09/02/15 14:07 NYC Steam Passenger Question Author: CP8888 The James Whitcomb Riley lasted thru 1955 with steam power.
Question: Was this the final steam passenger train on the NYC not including mail/express which carried no passengers. Did the Riley make it to 1956 with steam?? Thanks in advance. Date: 09/03/15 04:47 Re: NYC Steam Passenger Question Author: JPB The info at this link says that Niagara 6015 made its last passenger run on train 416 Indy to Cincinnati due to diesel failure on June 30, 1956 (left 34 minutes but made up 28 minutes en route). I don't know if train 416 was the the Riley though.
