A couple of days ago, PasadenaSub Rich had a nice post on the Western Board of the Pasadena local with an ex-AT&SF caboose/shoving platform on the former Santa Fe 2nd district http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3832625. I was reminded of a similar scene from over 35 years ago when it was still the 2nd district, a four unit set of geep's passes westbound through my home town of Upland on a June 1980 late afternoon. Damn, I'm old.

Nice one Bob, and thanks for the mention.  I wonder if the cab-hop would have been following behind Amtrak's westbound Desert Wind that day, which began service about a year prior to your picture.
