3 Orrville coaches sold to Fla RR Museum
Author: Panamerican99

Three stainless steel coaches arrived at the Florida RR Museum on Friday and were off-loaded to the museum's rails on Saturday morning.
Two of the cars hold Florida historical significance, one is an ex-Seaboard Air Line car built for the original Silver Meteor in 1939 and the other is an
ex-ACL car built for the Champion. The third car is an ex-Santa Fe coach. All were built by Budd. All were trucked from Bellevue, OH to Florida.

That seems like a long distance to take a passenger car by road (trucked)?  Were the cars not rail worthy?

It's probably cheaper to ship some cars by truck vs having to do all the work needed to get them ready to move by rail. It's one thing to spend the money and resources in your home shop vs paying someone else to do the work.
