Nostalgia & History > Frog eyed RI U-25b leads yet another underpowered train!Date: 10/07/15 06:57 Frog eyed RI U-25b leads yet another underpowered train! Author: slacks During the Russian grain rush of 1973-74 RI had alot of extra traffic and a shortage of power to pull it. At Durant Ia I caught this 128 car eb grinding upgrade with a U-25b and and ex-DRGW GP-7. This is the only frog eyed logo I ever got leading, wonder if the lights are turned on at night or what the purpose was for them?

Author: trainboy03 I don't know how much light they actually provided, but they flashed alternately much like some ditch lights do today when the horn is activated. They were there to increase visibility for others but were apparently a maintenance nightmare and the idea was eventually scrapped.
