BB file: 4 C&S SD9's, 3 schemes 1971
Author: valmont

Bruce Black's C&S shot at Highland, CO on June 5, 1971 one of those colorful transition period photos ... of course he chased this one. Units are #820/831/830/833. And Yes, that's snow on the Divide in early June.

Marty:
it was black, so I made it green because I'd already written the caption

Amazing! Can't tell what's reality anymore.

Hope you guys got the humor in my comment about the caption, of course I didn't change it from black to green  ... some times as Larry Doyle said  "Amazing! Can't tell what's reality anymore."
.. and by the way that's a hell of an editing job

I see no problems with the second photo, but don't tell Marty Bernard.

I see huge problems. Someone is going to see it and ask, they still ran strings of Chinese-red SD's that late??!  The rule among ethical newspaper and magazine photographers is you don't make changes like these without clearly labeling what you've done. Even mighty National Geographic got into serious ethical trouble by moving the sun from one side of pyramid to the other on a cover shot. For magazine and newspaper photographers this is a firing offense.

Bill, this is a hobby, not a newspaper. It's suppose to be fun.  Yet for historical purposes, I think the doctored photo should be reposted with a disclaimer about reality.  Nice editing job however!

I think correcting the color balance and composition of a photo is fine and needs no warning or comment. But I agree with you that altering the actual content needs to be noted, since over time our photographs come to be accepted as historical documents by modelers, historians and others. (How many arguments have been settled by reference to a photograph?) Newspapers and magazunes routinely distiguish between altered and unaltered photograohs by referring to the former as "photo illustrations."

Taking it a step farther.  Altering somebody's photograph without their permission is a copyright violation.

That's better, now without the BN unit. .

I'll take four SD9's in any color.  It beats the heck out of the crap you see today.  Great consist, wish it were still around.

to be honest, i did a horrible job on this replacement of the green weenie and could spot this fake a mile away. look at the number board blurry 831 same as the unit ahead of it. the transitions between the units are pretty bad and the fan shrouds on the third unit are crappy against the sky. if you look closely, this is not a good photoshopped photo. sorry if i pi$$ed off anyone with this replacement. dave, out.

The photoshop chopped the radiators off the second unit.

Dave you declared you Photoshopped the picture and you provided it here for our amusement.  You have nothing to appologize for.  I appreciate you sharing your effort here with us in response to someone jokingly asking for the BN unit to be removed.
