Nostalgia & History > Restoration of Rattan SeatsDate: 11/24/15 14:44 Restoration of Rattan Seats Author: MartyBernard Yesterday there was a Facebook post of a photo of the Single Truck Birney #10 at the Orange Empire Railway Museum. It was originally Pacific Electric Car 332 but is presently painted as Tucson, AZ No. 10 which used it to start their trolley car service.
I spent many weeks during the winter of 2010-2011 re-rattaning the car's seats. 1. The car out on the sunny day of March 5, 2011. 2. Steps in the restoration, plywood backing, rattan glued to canvas held in with tacked splines, and spar varnished. 3. And the results.
