Nostalgia & History > A Tale of Two West Oakland SP Maintenance ShopsDate: 11/24/15 19:55 A Tale of Two West Oakland SP Maintenance Shops Author: KeyRouteKen At one time there was a large number of various Shop buildings at West Oakland, Calif on the Southern Pacific Railroad.
Over the years they were torn down, one by one !! Signal Dept, B & B, Stores Dept, Communications, Woodworking, Carpentry,System Maintenance of Way, and so many others. At one time or the other, I probably visited all of them in my youth and got to meet so many wonderful employees. Here are two of them that come to mind ...... The Tin Shop-- Water Service Department -- circa 1958 The Blacksmith Shop-- circa 1922 Enjoy ! Happy Thanksgiving to all TO'ers and your loved ones. |
