Happy Thanksgiving - M&MF 1202
Author: refarkas

It is hard for me to believe that this was taken in August 1975 instead of recently. My grandmother had died, and I took a railfan trip to help with the loss. Fellow railfan John Woodworth and I were in Morehead, Kentucky to check out the M&MF. To our surprise they were running a coal train, and while I normally only took roster shots, I took this and a distant train shot. Later on, I discovered the M&MF rarely moved a train, so this became a "Thankful" even though it only showed a little part of the train.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Almost looks like it was an ex D&S Baldwin.  Nice catch.  Ben

Yep, ex-D&S and originally SAL, I think. It and its mates still existed until a couple years ago when they were scrapped. What a shame.

It was actually M&NF not M&MF.

Although I knew it was originally M&NF, I had heard the railroad was called M&MF at that time. Also the locomotive is lettered Morehead and Morgan Fork.
