Nostalgia & History > Delaware-Lackawanna Photos Over the YearsDate: 02/06/16 11:27 Delaware-Lackawanna Photos Over the Years Author: sig292 I was thinking about going out to chase the Delaware-Lackawanna PT-98 today. Well, for various reasons, it didn't happen. I had to settle for looking at some photos from over the years when I did make it out to the Poconos. I thought I would share a few.
!. Anyone who railfans the D-L will tell you that it is a good idea to be in Scranton early in the morning. This particular morning I may have been a little too anxious to get there. Good thing I brought my tripod along because I was there before the sun arrived. Here D-L C420 # 405 sits near Bridge 60 tower in this frigid predawn awaiting the call of duty. 2. Arriving Scranton at a more civilized time, I was able to get this shot of a group of Alcos being fired-up just after sunrise. 10/28/11 3. D-L RS32 # 211 leads the eastbound Portland Turn past the Crisco passenger station on a cold winter Day in 2007. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 02/06/16 13:52 by sig292. 5. Fan Favorites! The RS3s don't usually make it out onto the road much in the winter, in fact, they spend most of it shut down and stored away. On this day, December 3, 2008, a pair of them (4118 & 4068 along with C420 405) powered the Portland Turn all the way to Slateford and back! They are pictured here at Henryville PA. 6. M636 # 3643 & M630 # 3000 power PT-98 through the Delaware Water Gap along side the Delaware River approaching Slateford Junction in April of 2008. This shot was possible because some brush cutting had recently been done, you can't get this view now. Hopefully the vegetation will be trimmed again some day! I have plenty more photos and I'll post a few more later. Enjoy! Ken Gear Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/06/16 11:49 by sig292.
