JB Date: 02/06/16 22:33 Re: Some Birmingham and Southern Switchers for Saturday Author: hawkinsun I've seen other photos showing locomotives with the unusual four color light lamps on all four corners as on some of these Birmingham Southern locos. Were these used as class lamps or marker lights ? Did any other railroads use these lights ? Nice photos.
Craig Hanson Vay, Idaho Date: 02/06/16 22:48 Re: Some Birmingham and Southern Switchers for Saturday Author: MartyBernard They surprized me too. They are used when the locomotive is under remote radio control. The color indicates what the locomotive is doing. My surprize is that this was 1992 early for this technology. But, of course, this was U.S. Steel. I don't think I caught a caboose in any pictures I took that day.
