The electronics back in those day was "stone-age" in comparison to what's out there in today's world. They continuously had continuity problems.

Probably not beyond 1978. In 1980 they were sent north to the Modoc

WAF, did SP run Locotrol on the Modoc in 1980? If so, until when?

Was there ever regular Locotrol operation on the Shasta Route? If so, when?

And when did SP give up on Locotrol completely?
