Along the C&NW
Author: CNW8531

These GP40's once use to cruise the Water Level Route as they started out life with the New York Central.  Here they are nearly twenty years later still earning their keep, but with a new owner and fresh paint.  Recently out-shopped from Oelwein, #5515 and #5514 wait on the mainline next to the old car shops in Clinton with train "NPPTA".  Once the bridge closes their on the move again eastward into Illinois and on to Proviso.  Photo's taken on 9/02/83.

The 924 is an ex-Chicago Great Western unit, isn't it?

Yes, it has a signal light in the nose.  At some point C&NW started to paint the cab sides yellow.  Gerry

Man, great stuff here.  Those Geep40's look great, and that ex-CGW 40 and non-dynamic 45 combo is pretty sweet. Great stuff!
