Warbonnet Wednesday (A Half Mystery Slide!)
Author: Rainier_Rails

I recently acquired from John Benson this original Kodachrome slide taken by Jim Claflin of brand new GP60M's #159 and #158, sometime in October 1990.  There is no info written on the mount, so the exact date and the location are unknown.

Here are a couple of pics I took of ATSF Warbonnet C40-8W's in Southern Pacific's Lafayette LA yard in the 90s running as detour trains because of midwest flooding.

Claflin worked for EMD. As there is ZERO dirt or dust on the fuel tank face behind the lead truck, nor on any of the assorted grills or intakes, I'll go out on a limb and say that this Corwith Yard - and the units have been placed in service for their first run west. The unit was built in September, 1990. The Clafflin slides I have are dated. If you are going by the Kodak mount date, remember, that is not necessarily accurate.
