Roger Puta rode this Central Vermont Excursion Train on October 6, 1968.  The lead units were spiffed up GTW GP9s.

1. At Brattleboro, VT

2. At Staford, CT

3.  Three Rivers, MA

4. CV GP9 4928 from New Haven Parlor-Observation Watch Hill at Willimantic, CT.

5. CV business car on rear at Brattleboro, VT.

Those are not Grand Trunk Western GP9 units.  They are Grand Trunk GP9 units.  There's a difference.  The Grand Trunk connected Montreal with Portland, Maine.  Before the Canadian National family adopted the black and red/orange paint scheme Grand Trunk units were lettered differently from GTW ones.  Unfortuantely, after the new image in 1960 GT and GTW units carried the same logo creating confusion.

Grand Trunk and Central Vermont units frequently worked both on the CV and on the Grand Trunk (New England) as Roger's excursion photos show.  Grand Trunk Western units were rare in New England at the time of Roger's photos.

What were the engine numbers of the passenger GP9's that belonged to the GT (not GTW)?

Diesel Shop says they were GTW units, not GT's.  Diesel Shop shows no units owned by GT.  Could you double check your source please. Thanks.

4902 was lettered for Grand Trunk at one time.

GTNE 4902 later became GTW 4633. 

In the late 70's, the Central Vermont painted units in a yellow and green sceme that deviated from the CN standard.  One  GP-9 in this sceme was lettered for GT, at least for a short time.
