Quick trip to Colorado 2004
Author: lamta_jay

My son was in the Army stationed at Fort Carson near Colorado Springs.

On this trip Josh and I ventured to Canon City, CO. Nothing was moving
so I took these shots

Since I like F units I was in luck. And I believe the station is ex ATSF

Thanks for looking, I have 1 more

Jay

Finally , I saw this nice looking SD9 as we drove out of town. I know nothing
about it. Was this from the new NWP ?

Thanks again for looking

I think 5305 was ex-DRGW. Its gone now and the F's are in standby service.

On the way to Canon City we stopped in Pueblo
and found Union Station and this collection of
equipment.

There was nobody around and could find no
information at the time

Thanks for looking

Jay

Yes, D&RGW 5305 then to NWP and finally to CC&RG who cut it up about two years ago.

Depot was indeed AT&SF with tracks on the side you were shooting from.

Pueblo is a historical society and had hoped to get 2912 into running condition.  I think that idea has passed.  They have a large collection of local RR equipment.  C&W had four GP-7s and three are here.  DOT 001 is from early Test Track days and IIRC, the only engine they have had that was new when they received her.

That is covered grain storage, or any other powder one doesn't want to get wet.

The SD9 on CCRG was cut up more than 2 years ago. More like 6 or more.  Ben

So they leave the 2912 sitting in pieces.  This happens too damned often.

No. All but one of the group died. I posted some stuff last year of the last guy and I hanging the rebuilt airpumps, and feedwater pump back on her. And later it was sandblasted with a new medium to prep it for paint. Rods were getting painted as they have issues clearcoating won't hide. And he had major health issues that week . Took its toll. So now he has to slow down. Few volunteers. Season changed. Paint postponed.
Anyhow, this year for paint is the plan. Think he said all the materials are purchased. They have a painter and I volunteered to help spray if needed.
Think some volunteers were out last month, saw a post here.
